Wet cuttings and waste mud from water-based drilling contain free liquid and fine suspended solids. The treatment process separates these materials through screening, flocculation, and mechanical dewatering.
Wet cuttings go through the drying shaker first. Larger solids are screened out, while free liquid is recovered and sent to the next treatment stage.
The recovered liquid enters the mixing and flocculation section. Chemical dosing brings fine suspended solids together so they can be separated more effectively in the filter press.
The conditioned slurry then enters the filter press for mechanical dewatering. Filtrate is collected in the filtration tank for reuse or further treatment. The separated solids leave as dewatered filter cake for collection or disposal.
With the liquid and solid streams handled separately, less wet material remains for transport and final disposal.
