Oil Based Mud for Drilling Waste Management System

Oil Based Mud Drilling Waste Management System is used to treat and recover oil-based drilling waste generated during drilling operations. The system effectively separates drilling cuttings from drilling fluids, recovers valuable oil-based mud, and reduces the volume of waste requiring disposal. It helps lower operating costs, improve drilling fluid reuse, and meet environmental regulations in oil and gas drilling projects.

    description2

Oil-based mud non-grounding system primarily consists of waste drying and collection unit, liquid phase separation unit, and gel breaking unit for waste mudtreatment. Traditional oil and gas drilling sites typically have simple pool of approximately 1,000 cubic meters, covering an area of 1.2 to 1.5 mu (approximately1.2 to 1.5 acres), to hold drilling cuttings and waste mud.

The system integrates mud tanks, mixing equipment, transfer pumps, and solids control units into a continuous circulation process, allowing efficient handling and conditioning of drilling fluid.
The system typically includes mud storage tanks for active and reserve drilling fluid, along with agitators and mud guns to prevent solids settling.

Centrifugal pumps are used to transfer fluid between different stages of the system. A mixing hopper is installed for adding barite and other drilling additives when adjusting mud properties.

Solids control equipment such as shale shakers, desanders, desilters, and decanter centrifuges are used to remove drilled solids and keep the mud in usable condition.

A control panel or PLC system can be added for centralized operation depending on project requirements.

The Oil Based Mud Treatment System is designed to handle and treat drill cuttings generated from oil-based mud drilling operations. It separates drilling fluids from cuttings, recovers reusable oil-based mud, and reduces the overall volume of waste for disposal.

    Working Process

Drilling fluid returns from the wellbore carrying drilled cuttings and enters the solids control section. Large particles are first removed by the shale shaker. Finer solids are then separated through hydrocyclone units and centrifuges.

After treatment, the cleaned drilling fluid flows back into the active mud tanks and is reused in the drilling cycle. This closed-loop process helps maintain stable drilling conditions and reduces fluid loss.

System capacity and configuration depend on rig size and project requirements. Tank volume, pump power, and solids control equipment can be customized based on drilling depth and fluid handling needs.

Typical configurations cover small, medium, and large drilling rigs with flexible layouts for different site conditions.
