The TR Mud Gas Separator is installed downstream of the choke manifold and upstream of the shale shaker. It removes large volumes of free gas from gas-cut drilling fluid before the mud enters the solids control system.
Gas-cut mud enters the separator and passes through an internal baffle section. The baffles slow the mud flow and allow the free gas to separate from the liquid. The separated gas leaves through the gas outlet and is routed to the designated discharge or flare line. The mud then flows onward to the shale shaker.
The Mud Gas Separator handles the large volume of free gas encountered at the well-control end of the mud system. Downstream degassing equipment can further remove entrained gas from the drilling fluid before or during continued solids control treatment.
