TR Decanter Centrifuge separates fine suspended solids from drilling fluid on a continuous basis. The equipment handles both weighted and unweighted mud, including applications where barite recovery or finer solids removal is required.
Drilling fluid enters the rotating bowl through a stationary feed tube. As the bowl spins, centrifugal force pushes the solids toward the bowl wall while the liquid stays closer to the center. The scroll rotates in the same direction at a different speed, carrying the separated solids toward the conical discharge end. The clarified liquid leaves through the liquid outlet.
For weighted drilling fluid, the centrifuge separates barite from finer low-gravity solids. When finer solids removal is the main duty, higher centrifugal force provides the separation needed for particles that remain after the upstream solids control stages.
Installed downstream of the primary separation equipment, the centrifuge removes the finer solids left in the drilling fluid. The separated liquid can then return to the active mud system or move on to another treatment stage.
After cuttings drying, the recovered drilling fluid may still contain fine solids. Passing this fluid through the centrifuge provides another separation stage before it returns to the mud system or moves to further treatment.
